Explore at Shreyas
At Shreyas, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Our vibrant campus is home to thoughtfully designed spaces that nurture creativity, exploration, and holistic development. The Vatsala cooking area offers children a hands-on experience in traditional and modern culinary arts, encouraging self-reliance and life skills. Our open-air and indoor theatres set the stage for drama, music, and dance, while expansive playgrounds support physical growth through sports like football, cricket, and indigenous games. A well-stocked library fosters curiosity and a love for reading, and the on-campus museum offers a unique window into India’s rich heritage and folk traditions. From structured sports activities to immersive cultural programs, every corner of Shreyas is built to inspire.

Vatsala Cooking
Vatsala Cooking School, the first initiative of its kind in the city on a school campus, opened on 10th October 2019. This is yet another addition to the range of activities that we have facilitated in the recent past in our constant drive to fully utilize our existing campus infrastructure and enhancing the educational experience of children in a holistic manner. After starting on campus farming, now Shreyas children will have a fully equipped facility to learn to cook nutritious food. In addition to the cooking school, we have also created a canteen and dining area for our faculty of 200 plus staff.

Besides cooking classes for Shreyas students, we will also hold regular cooking workshops for the general public. Through this initiative our aim is to inculcate healthy cooking and eating habits, something that is the need of the hour in today’s times. Vatsala Cooking School will endeavour to teach people how to experiment with various common healthy ingredients and ways to incorporate these recipes in their daily diet.

Museum
Shreyas museums were created in 1974 as dynamic mediums of learning. Our central vision is to use ‘Museums as a classroom’ in Montessori style. Here each object has a story to tell; is interconnected to another; is not only part of history and mythology, but is also part of our individual perceptions of life around us. Our museums attract Indian and foreign students, scholars and art-lovers. Group visits can be organised.

Folk Museum
Established in 1977, contains objects of crafts, utensils, domestic items, costumes and ceremonial objects from different communities and tribes in Gujarat. The collection contains exquisite pieces of colourful embroidery, beadwork, woodcarving, metalwork and leather work, which are documented and displayed with details of origin. With an aim to generate an appreciation of local heritage, this place educates students about the rich diversity of traditions and lifestyles in the state.

Kalpana Balayatan Children's Museum
Established in 1982, has an extensive collection of Toys, Crafts and objects of performing arts from fifty-four states and countries. The highlight of this museum is the stupendous elephant skeleton. Other articles on display are puppets, masks, costumes, coins and toys. Special emphasis is on theatre and performing arts.

Sangeeta Vadyakhand
Established in 1984, this is a gallery of musical instruments of India and other countries. It is a repository of string instruments, bow, percussion and wind musical instruments used in classical and folk music.

Kathani
Kathani is a gallery of Shreyas Fairs and Festivals established in 2004. Participation in fairs and festivals is a valuable way to develop a sense of unity and brotherhood, understanding and appreciation of cultures. Shreyas has celebrated thirty-six festivals since 1952, focusing on various regions of the world. Kathani is a rich documentation of pictures and photographs of all these.

Museum as a Classroom
At Shreyas Foundation, museums are more than repositories—they are vibrant classrooms that spark curiosity and learning. Children engage directly with cultural artifacts, textiles, tools, and art, gaining hands-on understanding of India’s rich heritage. The experiential setting encourages observation, inquiry, and storytelling. From tribal masks to everyday objects, each display becomes a doorway into history, tradition, and identity. Learning here goes beyond textbooks, connecting
students deeply with their roots and the
world around them.

Cultural Activities

Food Mela
At Shreyas, food is more than nourishment — it's a cultural experience. Children participate in preparing and sharing traditional vegetarian meals, learning about seasonal eating, regional recipes, and the value of mindful cooking. These shared meals foster community, responsibility, and an appreciation of India’s diverse culinary heritage.

Traditional Games Workshops
The Traditional Games Mela at Shreyas is a joyful celebration of India’s rich heritage of play. Children, families, and visitors come together to engage in age-old games like kabaddi, kho-kho, gilli danda, lattoo, and more. This vibrant event revives forgotten forms of recreation, fostering community spirit, physical agility, and cultural pride in a festive, inclusive atmosphere.

Puppet
Puppetry at Shreyas is a vibrant medium of storytelling, blending art, craft, and performance. Children explore traditional forms of puppetry to express ideas, folk tales, and social themes, while learning voice modulation, handcrafting, and teamwork. It’s a playful yet powerful tool that nurtures creativity and cultural connection.

Clay Work
Clay work at Shreyas encourages children to shape their imagination with their hands. Through molding, sculpting, and experimenting with natural clay, they connect with the earth, develop fine motor skills, and express themselves artistically. Rooted in traditional craft, it’s both a sensory and creative journey.

Kala
At Shreyas, children engage in hands-on visual arts and traditional crafts that celebrate creativity and cultural heritage. From drawing and painting to block printing, embroidery, and weaving, these activities nurture artistic expression, patience, and an appreciation for India’s rich artisanal traditions.
We offer workshops and courses in a range of cultural arts and crafts during the school year and vacations.
